Last week we went home to see my parents. While we were there, my mom told me that they took our dog that we have had for 10 years to the vet because he was really sick. We ended up getting the news that the best thing would be to put our dog Tanner to sleep. We were all devasted! Tanner has been the best dog. So we got Tanner from the vet late Friday night and stayed by him most of the night petting him and crying! Saturday morning my mom and dad took him to the vet to be put down. We buried him out on my parents property overlooking the reservoir. It was so sad! When we got in the truck after we buried him, Kailey made the comment, "Tanner go home." How do little kids know these things? We talked quite a bit about Tanner the rest of the weekend. But then again yesterday, while I was making some breakfast, I heard Kailey say, "Tanner go to Heavenly Father". We haven't talked about Tanner for at least 5 days so why she was thinking about it I don't know. I am constantly amazed at how little kids are so close to the spirit. I think the veil is definitely thinner for them and they can understand things a lot easier than adults. No wonder the scriptures tell us that unless we become as a little child, we can not enter into the Kingdom of God. They are so meek and perfect! I'm so grateful for Kailey and the joy that he has brought into our lives!

What a cute post. That's so sad and so cute. It is amazing what kids catch on to. Kailey is deffinetly a special girl. Hope you guys are well. Love your face.
What an amazing little kid! It truly blows me away that they know so much. They can bring us back to the simplicity of it all. What would we do without them?
How sweet is she, I think kids are for sure more intune and the spirit and true things feel good to them because it is what they know and where they came from.. SO sweet.
Oh, I'll miss Tanner. Kailey is a smart girl, no doubt about that. Oh, Tanner will be missed:)
Children do understand more then we can comprehend at times. That is a tender moment.
So sad....little kids really are great...sounds like Kailey has a better grip on life than I do...how sweet.
That is such a special memory to have of Kailey. I remember when I use to watch her. She is so sweet. I can't believe she is 2. We miss you guys.
I am sorry about Tanner. I agree with u that the veil is thinner for children. When we were at Sara's brother's funeral Axton looked at her crying and said"It's ok mommy Nick and Brian are having fun and playing football now." We all got the chills and started to cry.
I am sitting at my desk crying, I hope nobody walks in! How sweet is that?
Sorry to hear about tanner. I really love the innocence kids have. Ammon did the same thing at my Uncle Vaughn's funeral. It was a really tender moment. I think that was the only thing that got my dad through that day. It is amazing what kids can do for us old farts.
